Sjava released his debut album titled Isina Muva in 2016. It received 3 nominations at the Metro FM Awards including a nomination for Best African Pop Album and ultimately won Best Produced Album (produced by Ruff) at the Metro FM Awards the following year.Isina Muva also won Best Produced Album at the 2017 SAMAs. Sjava went on to win the very first DStv Mzansi Viewer’s Choice Rising Star Award that year

In 2018 Sjava collaborated with Mozzy and Reason for the Black Panther Sound Track by Kendrick Lamar on a song titled Seasons.

In 2019 he won Best Afro-Pop Album and Album Of The Year at the SAMAs for his sophomore album, Umqhele.He was also nominated in three other categories that year: Male Artist Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Best Engineered Album.Umqhele features breakthrough artists, who were signed to the 1020 Cartel record label from 2021 – 2022, viz. Mzukulu, Nue_Sam and Anzo.

In 2020, Sjava’s debut album under 1020 Cartel, Umsebenzi was released. It quickly rose to the top of the Apple Music album charts and remained there for several months. The EP featured the platinum-selling track Umcebo, which was created through a partnership between UK producers Webmoms and Delayde Beats. At the 2021 SAMA Awards, the EP received the award for Best Produced Album.

Five more tracks were added to the EP when it achieved gold status in early 2021, resulting in the Umsebenzi Gold Deluxe album, which was released in October 2021.

Sjava’s 2023 release, Isibuko, allows the listener to experience a journey of pure and unfiltered emotions while revealing a very reflective side of the musician. Longtime partner and producer Ruff, Vuyo Manyike, with whom Sjava has collaborated with since his debut album in 2016, as well as Delayde and Webmoms (UK, Umcebo), work with Sjava on production and instrumentation on Isibuko. Featured artists include Emtee, Saudi, Anzo, Shwi, Mzukulu, Inkos’yamagcokama, Dumakahle, Q Twins, Mzulu Phaqa, Vernotile and Sampa The Great.

Isibuko went platinum a year later and had 54,2 million streams globally. Isoka holds a double platinum certification, while Amavaka and Amakhehla have platinum certifications. Grounding, Kube Ngangazi, Thixo, Ubuhle Bendalo, Amaphiko, My Life, Iphisi, Dudlu, Ungavumi, Amanxeba, Akabuye, Ithuna, and Time have gold certifications.

Sjava and Big Zulu surprisingly revealed a collaboration under Inkabi Zezwe shortly after the release of Isibuko. In March 2023, the pair released their triple platinum single Umbayimbayi, and in May of the same year, they released their collaborative album Ukhamba.
